Conclusion

Being molested as a child can cause an enormous amount of pain and problems later on in their lives. There have been many children that have been sexually abused, and many of these heinous crimes could have been prevented. In society, there are many child molesters who are on parole or probation. Sending child molesters to rehabilitation centers is not solving the problem in them or to the child that they caused harm to. It is not fair that the victims have to live with a life-long series of behavioral, social and many more problems while the offender is sitting in a rehabilitation center or worse back out in society.

Really?

“Punishing is a reaction, an admission that society merely reacts to bad things instead of preventing them in the first place” (“Rehabilitating”). Repeating sex offenders usually do not commit new crimes but the same one whether they’ve been to therapy or not.

Time To Act NOW!

Rehabiliting the Offenders?

Some believe that sending the offenders to a Rehabilitation Center can be a way that they receive professional treatment. Society punishes for a bad act without thinking of ways to prevent them from happening again. Some people think that sending a child molester to a rehabilitation center means that they are forgiving them for their crime and letting them go free. Rehabilitation for offenders seems to be a smarter decision rather than just punishing them.

Time to Pay

Child sex offenders receive a very lenient prison sentence or not even one at all.  Child molesters should receive a harsher punishment because they are causing so much damage to their victims. Many people have gotten away with molesting many children. Most of the child molesters should be sentenced to a life in prison without parole. One of the problems of trying to convict a child molester is that it’s very difficult to even prove a child sexual abuse case. In court, a child can feel confused, frightened, and intimidated which can make the process very stressful.

The Victims

Victims of child moletation try to block out the memories of the abuse which will only cause serious problems later on in their lives. The victims usually do not tell anyone what has happened because they have not even admitted to themselves that this has happened to them, or they do not ant the person who committed the crime to get into trouble. What the victims do not realize is that doing this is only causing severe harm later on down the road. Children will most likely never tell what happened because they feel ashamed, and they are usually protecting the molester who could be a family member or friend.
